stress kuala lumpurStress! That word by itself, is enough to make you jump out of your seat and keep you on edge. Everyone on the planet has experienced it at one time or another. It is how you cope with your it that makes the difference.

Some know what stress is and can deal effectively with the stressful trigger or event. If you don’t deal with stress productively, it can literally eat you alive.

It is a response to something happening in your life. It is your brain’s way of responding to that event. Some people experience stress due to just a minor change in their life. The change can be negative or positive but how you yourself perceive the change can make a huge difference.

Why do some people seem to be able to take it and others cave at the first sight of it? There are three types of stress: recurring, short-term and long-term.

Short- or long-term stress can include commuting to work, being on time for school, planning and taking a vacation, moving across town or across country.

Some people can’t handle change or things that are unknown or different. There are changes that are mild, major, and extreme. Mild changes could be experiencing a new ride at an amusement park. A major change could be a marriage, divorce, serious illness or new baby. Extreme would include permanent traumatic stress such as that associated with violence, soldiers returning from battle, a permanent injury from a car accident.

There is good stress (really!) and there is bad stress.

Not all stress is bad or will do harm. You naturally have chemicals and hormones that will release during stressful times. You start to breathe fast, you tense your muscles, your pulses gets rapid and your brain starts to use more oxygen. All of this increased activity is aimed at providing you a “survival” mode.

On the other hand, if you experience “chronic stress,” it will have the opposite effect by suppressing those same functions. You will experience problems if this persists and you can experience lowered immunity, and you can also see digestive, reproductive and excretory repercussions.

You do not want your overall mental or physical health to be affected by stress for long periods of time. There are three different types of stress to watch out for:

  • Routine: everyday pressures of life
  • Sudden: negative changes
  • Traumatic: major life changing event

It is handled in different ways by different people. It depends on the person and how their body and mind responds. For example, some people may experience the onset of headaches, depression, digestive problems, anger, etc.

If you are under chronic stress, you are more likely to experience the flu, a cold, etc. because your bodies’ immune system can’t handle the invasion.

It builds up over a period of time. If you recognize how this affects you, you can take some steps ahead of time so that you reduce or prevent stress from taking over your life.

Here are a few things you can do to deal with stress:

  • Be on the lookout for existing or new health problems
  • Recognize your bodies signals and signs
  • Set priorities for yourself so you don’t set yourself up for failure. Learn how to set goals properly with NLP.
  • Avoid dwelling on your problems. Get rid of your emotional baggage through Time Line Therapy TM.
  • Try to exercise for at least an hour a day or take a yoga class for relaxation
  • Keep a watchful eye on your sleep patterns, any increased use of alcohol or otherstress time line therapysubstance abuse
  • Try not to get easily angered, let your energy run down or become depressed. Do you know that you can collapse minor negative emotions, like irritation or frustration before they turn into anger?
  • Set priorities and accomplish as much as you feel you can handle
  • Seek the help of a professional if you can’t deal with stress on your own

It’s never too late to start dealing with stress if you know the signs and symptoms and what to do if you see yourself stressing over simple matters.
